Wood Cutting Board & Charcuterie Board Maintenance / Care
Caring for your board is fairly straightforward, but does require you to follow a few simple steps to get the most out of it. Below is a list of do’s and don’ts. By following this guide, you will be able to enjoy your board for years to come.
The Do’s
Hand wash your board as soon as you’re done using it. The one exception is if you’re using it to cut a dry good, such as bread or crackers. In those cases, you can just wipe it off, but for anything else, best to hand wash it.
Use water and liquid dish soap when cleaning it. Be sure to wash and rinse on both sides. Only washing one side of the board may cause it to warp.
Dry the board off with a towel.
Let it air dry, while laying it on it’s side (or if it has rubber feat you can place the board on those).
The Don’ts
Don’t soak your board in water.
Don’t put your cutting board or charcuterie board in the dishwasher. The excessive heat and chemicals will cause the board to warp and crack.
Don’t clean it using harsh chemicals or natural plant/oil based products that can expire or go bad.
